The calendar may say winter but Keep Houston Beautiful and the City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department is thinking spring as they join efforts with Toshiba to beautify public land.
“Keep Houston Beautiful is very proud to offer civic groups, schools and other community organizations the opportunity to beautify public spaces,” said Robin Blut Executive Director Keep Houston Beautiful. “We recently received a grant from America the Beautiful to participate in a nationwide project they are conducting with K. Van Bourgondien & Sons. As a result we are able to offer organizations throughout the Houston Area the opportunity to participate in this free bulb give away.”
The Houston Parks and Recreation Department’s Horticulture Division located in Memorial Park will serve as the staging area for this Free Bulb Bonanza. “We’re looking forward to distributing the 34,000 bulbs we’ve received thru Keep Houston Beautifuls efforts,” said Dee Howell HPARD Horticulturist. She continued, “It is our sincere hope that the community will respond and help beautify our city.”
Toshiba provided the transportation that was needed to bring the 34,000 bulbs to the Houston Area. “Without their assistance it would not have been possible to bring these bulbs to Houston,” said Robin Blut. “Their corporate sponsorship has made helped make this project a reality.”
