2008 Keep Houston Beautiful and First Community Credit Union Mini Grants

Keep Houston Beautiful is extremely happy to share with you the success of the first Mini Grants Program which was offered this year by KHB in partnership with First Community Credit Union! The goal of the mini grants was to assist community groups with some of the expenses of a Keep Houston Beautiful Day neighborhood community improvement projects. Our goal was to give the recipients the resources that would help them leverage other resources to carry out their project during the Great American Cleanup ™.

This was a unique experience to assess how active our community is! Over 70 creative and innovative applications were submitted! The projects involved cleaning and beautifying a given public area or community, graffiti abatement, or recycling drive and were divided in three categories:

1   Clean and maintain an adopted area

2   Hold a recycle art contest

3   Hold a waterway cleanup and/or water-related education event.

Without making you wait any longer, here is the list of the recipients for this year!

Faced with so many inspiring projects, First Community Credit Union and Keep Houston Beautiful managed to increase the original budget of $5,000 to $6,000 and awarded a total of 13 groups!
